Black dots appearing on screen

Whenever I use my computer little black dots flicker across the screen and I am unable to launch games as they just crash, when I do manage to open a game however the dots persist to show whilst in gameplay this problem seemed to come out of nowhere as my computer was running fine then I turned it on one morning and it didn't work as supposed to I've tried everything I can think of to fix it.. please help

Sounds like your video card failed. Could also be the cable? I have had more of those fail than video cards.

Try it out first. Also be sure your monitor isn't to blame.

Is it worth noting that the screen goes black for afew seconds sometimes and when it comes back on the problem is fixed for afew seconds??

Hmm. Never had a video card fail, but several cables. They would go dark and also pixelate them image. What are the specs of your system? I suppose something could be overheating too. Have you cleaned the PC lately?

An update, replaced psu cables for graphics card problem still persisting, does this mean my gpu is failing?

Whenever I load up a low profile game (such as an 8bit game) it seems to nullify the effect completely and all the dots go away, even in different windows
