I just threw out my old Sennheiser HD598 headphones after usage for the past 3 years or so, I don't really have too much of complaint about them, but it's time to move on and get a new pair. Any recommendations for a video editor/gamer, I literally work as a professional video editing and I am also an avid gamer, so which could do both tasks pretty well. People are starting to really push me into getting some good quality wireless earpods/headphones as well. I don't want to overpay for like SONY 1000MX5 or Sennheiser Momentum 4s really either. Is there any recommendations for something on sale at the moment that would fit both my video editing and gaming needs, possibly on sale for Black Friday? I saw the BOSE QC45 on sale, but I'm not too sure about them, never really tried BOSE, I hear good things about the quality though, and the price is a little more then I'd want to pay, I just don't want to overpay quite honestly, I don't need the best of the best and I have used Sennheiser headphones in the past including 280 in college as well, so that company would be my preference, but like to hear anything you guys can tell me, possibly ~150$ thanks again, and happy holidays.

Ouch. Should have kept them and just rebuilt them. Senny sells all the parts to basically build a pair from scratch.

That said, Audio-Technica ATH-AD900x are good if you can find a real pair but they will sound fairly different to the 598's

Nah it's okay I just wanted a new pair they were literally almost disintegrating lol, it's time for a brand new pair. I just want a good deal for the money, I don't need a microphone either, I use my desktop mic, but I am curious about wireless these days also, what's a great bang for buck right now, especially being Black Friday.

People who have never had decent headphones like the 598 will say wireless sounds good.
It doesn't. I bought wireless $300 Senny and AT cans and they sounded like butthole. Returned them within a week if not the same day.

What country are you in? I noticed you put the dollar sign after the number which Americans typically don't do which is why I'm asking and to establish what a viable source would be.

Also I assume you want to stay open-back unless you're hard set on the disappointment of wireless? Also low or high impedance?

I am from US yes, and I'm not a typical American I guess. I've used close-back headphones before which really isolate like my old Audiotechnica did for me, but I'm also big into Sennheiser headphones, sound/build quality and comfort of those. I was kind of looking between the Sennheiser Momentum 4 and SONY 1000xm4 for a solution that pretty much has all in one, mobility/quality/ANC and not sure how good for gaming but yeah, my brother was telling me wireless is the future, while he's probably not wrong, I also believe wired is the best (at least still). Although I was also thinking I could get a less expensive mobile solution, some bluetooth earphones for mobility and a higher quality pair of headphones for work/play, might be the better ideas then an all-in-one honestly.

If you've never heard good sound before, earbuds like Galaxy Buds or Sonys 1000 line will sound good but not anything close to the fidelity of proper cans. Those would however make for good portable sound.

Wireless is the future, just not now. Call me an Audio Snob but as mentioned I bought multiple brands and didn't like any of them. The one pair that was only borderline acceptable I gave to my wife.

If you're fortunate enough to live near a Microcenter they often have floor models. However once you open their headphones, they do not allow returns anymore since COVID.

Amazon will likely be your best trial store. There's obviously Bayerdynamics, AT, Senny, Grado, etc..

The alternative to having two different headphones, you could get a Fiio BT3 or BT5 and use it in LDAC mode and wear your normal headphones while on the move and being semi-wireless and still have good sound.

Lastly,
As for Momentum it seems people have varying opinions, some way better, some say 598 were better.
