Hi,
so leading up to black friday I have dug deep into up to date hardware, what to buy and what I need etc and I'd like some feedback on multiple points, but the important infos first:

screen: 1920x1200 60hz
usage: no high end gaming, often photoshop
So it's a decent budget build for me

I didnt get everything during blackfriday but it's something and actually leaves me with quite some options left

ordered:
MSI b450 tomahawk
16GB Ripjaws 3200Mhz
MX500 Crucial SSD
BitFenix Formula 550W - ordered but currently unavailable
Fractal Design R6 case

So I am missing a CPU + GPU
Ryzen 5 2600 is my target cpu and I was thinking about an RX580 or maybe 590 if I find a sufficiently cheap one since they can be undervolted so nicely,

So my questions are:
1) I've read a lot abput PSUs and want to check if my thoughts are correct.
The Bitfenix can deliver the full 550W in +12V and it's highly efficient.(92.3% at 50% load to 91% at 100% in 230V)
source: https://www.computerbase.de/2018-02/550-w-oberklassenetzteile-test-bitfenix-inter-tech-seasonic/3/#diagramm-effizienz-bei-230-volt-eingangsspannung

The outervision psu calculator gives me this:
Load Wattage: 381 W
Recommended UPS rating: 750 VA
Recommended PSU Wattage: 431 W

It recommends a 650W bronze psu. I assume it does that while aiming for that 50%+ sweetspot for full load and adding quite some wiggle room, correct ?
So Bitfenix 550W should be very much sufficient and also efficient +/-1%
Any insights or infos on that topic?

2) Something else regarding PSUs is that this one doesnt have a 8pin connector but a 6+2 connector. Is that basically the same as a 8 pin ?

...yea, that's about it for now. Maybe more questions later

The build looks good, if u haven't paid for the PSU yet I would suggest changing it though. You can refer to this list when picking one:

Don't go beyond Tier 4 (Tier 1 being the best)

Changing it to what exactly ?
More power or just something else ?

If you say not to go "beyond" tier 4 I assume you mean lower/worse than that ?! Tier 5, 6 and 7

Yes, only go for Tier 1, 2, 3 and 4. 550W is a good choice, anything starting from there is good, but keep in mind, don't go too high.

Really ? It's tier 2 in the Linustech list for psus that was posted by julienruc above.

That tier list is meh at best. Those PSU's aren't even modular. That makes cable management more difficult, and can lead to worse airflow, and more cable clutter. 5yr warranty, on a gold rated unit, doesn't instill much confidence in it long term either. If you want a BitFenix PSU, the Whisper M golds are a better choice. They are modular, and have a 7yr warranty. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/bitfenix-whisper-series-550w-psu,4805-11.html

Simply put, there are better units out there, for the money spent.
