Black monitor after resolution change

I am not a techie....I changed my screen resolution on my CPU running Windows 7 when I should have left it alone. Now I have a black screen with a message that says my input signal is out of range and I should change my resolution to 1280 x 1024 - 60Hz. How do I do this? No cursor on the screen.

Rebo0ot to safe mode and change your resolution to the recommended one or smaller.

ie- dont pick 1600x1200 if the recommended is 1280x720p but 800x600 would be ok.
