I'm going for an RGB themed build but I would like to know how the leds will work in either case? Will they be really dark in a black case or really bright that it will illuminate an entire room that is dark in a white case? Also I know my Mobo is Straight Overkill.

Oh and I hear the NZXT S340 Elite White has an overly "plasticky" look. Can someone explain that?

Solution
The S340 Elite is not a case I would recommend. The Eclipse P400S (built in RGB is compatible with the Asus Aurora system as well as other MoBo manufacturer LED systems which makes the $60 Hue system an unnecessary expense.) Watch the video here:

As for the build, if I were to change just one thing, I'd lose the WD Blue and replace it with a 7200 rpm SSHD (HD w/ built in SSD):

1. Performance:

The SSHD is 50% faster than the WD Black ... the Blue is quite a ways behind that.

SSD Boots Windows in 15.6 seconds
SSHD Boots Windows in 16.5 seconds
HD Boots Windows in 21,2 seconds

2. The WD Blue has a 2 year warranty / the SSHD has 5

3. I don't have data for the Blue but the failure rate on the WD Black is 0.45%, and it's 0.43 % on the SSHD.

As for the color.... I like white, have several here in my home office, also several black oldest being circa 2013. Note that these are painted cases, as opposed to colored plastic like the old IBM PC which would yellow in sunlight. And although the cases here have exposed plastic parts like Bay covers and front panels, we have observed no change in color over time (Enthoo Luxe, Enthoo Primo, Emtho Pro)
