Hey everybody,

today I set a setting in my bios called something like "Primary Display" in the video settings to "PEG." After saving and exiting, my computer shut off. Upon starting my computer again, the computer appeared to start for a few seconds (lights around the mousepad and power button lit up) before shutting back down for a few seconds, and then starting again, continuously repeating the cycle. I waited for the computer to appear off, unplugged the power cord, took out the battery, and then took out the CMOS battery. I then pressed the power button for 15 seconds before putting the CMOS battery back in, putting the battery back in, and turning the computer on again. The lights on the power button and mousepad light up and I can hear the CPU fan, however the display is completely black. My computer is an HP Pavillion dv7t-6b00.

Thanks for reading, hopefully you guys can help.

Thanks for the response! Unfortunately the key press combination had no effect, however I downloaded a bios update from HP's website, extracted the installer to get 2 .exe files, and then extracted those to get a .bin file that I assume to be the BIOS. I put the .bin file on a usb and plugged it in to my laptop. [strike]The screen is still black, however now the caps lock key is blinking.[/strike] I'm afraid I'm once again stuck on this problem, any input on where to go from here?

EDIT: Well after rebooting the caps lock key no longer blinks and its exactly the same as before, the power button light turns on, the mousepad lights up, the f12 key lights up, I can hear the hard drive and cpu fan, but the screen remains black.
