Hello,

I am getting a black screen after windows logo when booting up.
I did check all the threads posted here and none of the mentioned solutions worked, given most were towards PCs and I am using a laptop.

I am running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, Nvidia GeForce 635M.
Installed latest driver - didnt work; installed slightly older one, still doesn't work.

It's a fresh install. Screen boots up in Safe Mode normally though.

Used the one from Lenovo's website, its extremely old, probably will be loosing functionality with it - driver is from 2012.
Can't advise on what is active in Device Manager as I can only boot in Safe Mode.
I've check BIOS options - only have UMA / Switchable Graphics.

It all worked well until a few weeks ago when I had windows 10 and tried installing the CU update which failed. Then I had a few fresh installs of Win 10 which didn't fix this issue, then downgraded to Win 7, still issue persists.

Note: I was using latest Nvidia drivers while with Win 10 and never had issues.

Hello... Well I understand about driver age concern... but if it was shipped/used with that OS and unit... it's the "recommended/spec driver"...driver Don't age, just with a OS changes. B )

As a "simple test" try booting with the just the intel Video output enabled... will it complete a OS Boot that way?

Yes, using only the integrated gpu it all boots normally.

What I'd like to figure out is why latest driver are not working any more if they've been working up until a few weeks ago.

Hello... Good... well try and uninstall your Nvidia software... I go to the control panel-programs and features and do the recommended OS removal first.

Well... good question... I would start with the recommended driver and move through different versions to find out which Programmer screwed up the CODE support for my Nvidia device... like I said drivers don't wear out but newer versions can leave ya in the Dust? ...B D
