Black screen and flashing cursor

Hello,
SO i download the program camstudio to mkae my commercial by recording my own desktop. AFter the installation i tol me i had to restart my computer in order for the installation be complete. ON the other side i got a black screen with a flashing cursor with no sound of beep. My computer is a windows vista- dell. I have my cd's that came with the computer but don't know which one to use if i have to use one. I would like for my data like phtots videos and docuemnts to remain intact. Could anyone help?

Simplist thing 1st - Boot safe mode - Try Windows System Restore to before you did that install.

I agree with ksiemb, but I might add running the dell diagnostic to help rule any hardware issues.
You normally hit f12 upon boot to enter the diagnostics

(Provided the Diag partition is an option on the boot menu pf12) !
