Hello everyone ! ive had some issue with my pc for a short time.

When im starting a game (im mainly playing COD and Arena Breakout ) everything runs fine , but after 1-2 games , the games just crash and i get a black screen for a few seconds and then everything goes back to normal.

I tried many things:

  • Going back to windows 10 , going back again on windows 11
  • going back to the old version of the gpu driver and after trying that i installed the new one
  • did a memory diagnostic
  • checked the hardware to see if something was not tight
  • i brought the pc to Canada Computer to get it checked , he said that everything was running fine but the only thing he could see might be the power supply wich could maybe not give enough power to the gpu
The only place i get an error is in COD : its a DirectX error with numbers but when i look it up the answer to solve the issue is always different and i tried most of the things. Here's the
Error Code : 0x887A0005 (0x887A0006) (6068) D

Like i said, the guy at Canada Computer said it could be the PSU but i want to make sure before buying a new one for nothing .

Heres my specs :

CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

GPU: AMD RX 7900 XTX Red Devil

PSU: Corsair SF750

RAM : G.Skill trident Z5 RGB 2x16 DDR5 6400 ( set to 5900)

The problem does not come from overheating as I ran many stress tests and everything was fine on that side.

If someone could help me i would be forever thankfull , thanks !

(p.s : english is not my main language , please dont be to harsh on me )

Update: I just changed the PSU for an 850W unit and it's still happening.

This thread implies you should be fine with a good quality 850W PSU, despite 900W being the manufacturer's "recommendation".

Instead, I'd suggest playing with the RAM speed. You're currently using XMP 5900MT/s, but this might be slightly too fast for your 7800X3D.

Results vary, but AMD CPUs tend to be less overclockable than Intel as far as memory is concerned. I'm running my 7950X at stock 4800MT/s because my rendering apps don't benefit much from overclocking RAM.

First, switch off XMP and drop back to the JEDEC default of your RAM (probably 4800MT/s). Run a few games. If the system works OK, enable XMP and try 5200MT/s. Repeat stability tests and increase XMP in 200MT/s steps until there's a problem, then reduce the speed one step.

did a memory diagnostic
Did you run a full pass of MemTest (2 hours) booted up from a USB memory stick? It's more thorough than asking Microsoft to perform a quick memory check.

To be 100% sure, you should run MemTest (86 or 86+) at each XMP setting you try. You may get a pass at 5400MT/s but a fail at 5600MT/s. Several 2-hour MemTests are a small price to pay if you end up with a more stable system.

Some tests concentrate on the CPU, others on system RAM. Then there are GPU tests. Your system passed the tests you tried, but it still crashes in games. Stress tests aren't infallible and won't detect all faults. They're just another tool.

I use Aida64's System Stability Test which allows me to selectively stress different components. The default setting does not stress the GPU. I also use Furmark.

I no longer run stress tests for lengthy periods. I'll happily overclock old CPUs, but don't bother with PBO on my recent Ryzens. I don't overclock GPUs either to avoid system crashes on 12-hour long renders.

If you have PBO enabled, try switching it off. The CPU will boost pretty hard anyway.

Hey , i just dropped my memory to 4800 and disabled the XMP and the problem is still there , i will try the memtest and keep you updated

I just did the memtest86 and came back with no result :/ cant post the pic from my phone tho but no result 🙁

"The problem does not come from overheating as I ran many stress tests and everything was fine on that side." What are the temps at time the problem occurs. The stress test may not be as 'stressful' as the programs you are running.

Cant say from head what it was exactly but i did looked up the temp it was supposed to be , and it was all good,.

And the problem happen even when the PC is cold , like I boot it up , start a game, and it happens in the first game I play.
