OK,So whenever i turn on my comp I get a black screen just after the Ubuntu loading screen. I got the same thing when I attempted to install Ubuntu (This is all with a CRT monitor).

So where it gets weird, is when I plugged in my LCD monitor (from my good comp), everything works great. I even installed it on the computer with no problems, and everything worked. Any ideas on whats happening

Thanks!

OK so I currently have the computer hooked up to both of my monitors
again, The new screen works fine, but the old one is blank
when I go to the display settings it will not allow me set up dual monitors
It does, however, claim that the monitor is unknown

Any ideas on how I can manage to manually (or anyway ) set up the monitor?

Any help appreciated, Thanks!

side Note: I have the same version of ubuntu on my htpc, so I decided to try the monitor on it.
And the monitor worked fine!

I have a 8800 gtx in the computer I'm trying to get the monitor to work on

You may be able to manually enter in the information needed into the Xorg config file for your old monitor. Refer to this for some pointers, but basically you may have to try to dig out at least the monitor's horizontal sync and vertical refresh rates (even though any even remotely modern, i.e. made after the mid-to-late nineties, should report it through EDID), then you could either use the GUI or continue editing the xorg config file to setup DualMode
