Black screen/dash at top left corner

Desktop computer 32bit with 512mb ram. It only shows a dash at the top left corner when I turn it on, it show nothing than that Pls I need your help guys.

most likely a dead/corrupted hard drive, but there's many possibilities.
any clicking coming from the HDD?
Does it show the BIOS screen first?

Add to previous comment, an undetected HDD for any cause including a BIOS first boot drive configuration error.
