Just got my Gtx 1070 yesterday and have been at it for about 24 hours. My previous card was a Radeon 7970, so naturally I used DDU in safe mode to wipe the old the drivers before plugging in the new card. The problem is that when I install the driver - it fails to a black screen(no cursor). Windows is still running the installation, it just refuses to display anything. I've tried 3 different drivers so far. I can get into safe mode with the installation disc and the bcdedit command in cmd. From there I can wipe the drivers with DDU and start over. I tried clean install of just the driver. And also installing the driver "manually" in the device manager. I tried connecting both via HDMI and DVI. For some reason the HDMI connector won't display anything. Even if it's the only cable connected to the card during POST

I'm at a loss - need fresh ideas please

My setup:
Mobo: Asus Rampage IV Formula (LGA 2011, Intel X79 chipset, latest UEFI BIOS and drivers)
CPU: Intel Core I7 3820
New GFX: Gigabyte GTX 1070
OS: Win 10 X64
PSU: Corsair 750W

Drivers tried: 368.39 - 368.69 - 368.81 - 368.95

Small update: Installed Win 7 yesterday and the card performed perfectly. Stress tested it for hours last night. So my conclusion is that the problem lies in Win 10 or the drivers. Anybody got any ideas?

Did you end up getting windows 10 working? I have the exact same problem as you right now. Black Screen when trying to install drivers, after running DDU in safemode. My card did work in windows 10 a week ago, but today it failed..I have no clue what has happened.. Still rocking the GTX 660 TI...

I was able to resolve my issue after called multiple tech support lines. The seller's diagnosis was simply that the card was faulty. I took it into the store and after testing, turns out it was! So now I have a ASUS 1070 Strix and it's working just fine!

It could be the issue with mine as well. Well at least something is wrong since the HDMI-connector is dead. Won't even display the POST-screen. Not even if it's the only cable connected to the GFX.

But what puzzles me is that I got the card working in Win 7. Don't know what to make of that
