For the past few months I've been having issues with black screens happening while playing games; sometimes it happens while playing a game and having a browser open to listen to music. One example, American Truck Simulator, while playing I'll use the radio feature and either use music off my system or one of the various 'stations' you can find from the internet. It'll run say, a good 30 minutes or so, and then black screen and a "recover" notice. I'm still able to hear game sounds but no game, and it's defaulted to the graphics of my motherboard. I don't remember the exact of the notice, but I've looked it up and found various "solutions" that I've tried. Again, sorry I don't know those specific solutions, did them when this was first occurring. I then looked at various threads on the internet, some on here, and found it could be a RAM issue. I purchased new RAM, ran memtest just in case, and found out my RAM was fine. I then found it could be the PSU. I purchased a new PSU installed it, ran the Heaven Benchmark on ultra settings and it black screened out on me, on basic everything seemed to run just fine. Could it just be my graphics card? I've ran games on my system at ultra settings and have never had a problem until recently. I've cleaned everything, ensured that all cables, cards, and RAM are installed correctly. I tried using MSI Afterburner to 'underclock' it, but it didn't seem to help either. Other than that, I've literally done nothing to this card since the day I got it other than install it. I've tried looking into the event log, but seriously have no idea what I'm looking for. I've never had to look in programs like that and am clueless as how to read/find information in them.

Side note: I've checked, using CPUID, the temps of my GPU while playing games, and my GPU is in what I'm assuming a normal zone while under load, which is between 60C-70C, depending on how graphic heavy the game is. The GPU driver is also up to date. I do use two monitors, my main uses an HDMI cable, the other the basic dvi cable.

OS: Win 10
CPU: Intel Core i5-4670 @ 3.40GHz
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3
MOBO: ASRock H97M Anniversary Micro ATX LGA1150
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 4GB Mini ITX OC
PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 750W 80+ Gold

Try this,
First of all you need to TOTALLY remove all the old drivers. Use this link.

Note:
Select the respective company(i.e Nvidia or ATI) drivers to be uninstalled.
Use clean and restart option.
And then install the new drivers after rebooting.

I did this and then decided to try playing ATS to test it out make sure things were alright. It seemed to work just fine, played about 40-50 minutes with no issues. I then decided to try out the Heaven Benchmark, full screen ultra settings, it seemed fine until scene 11 or 12 when it black screened out on me and the driver had to recover.

If I had another PC to try it in, I would; and most people I know are pure console people. I tried to manually adjust the fan speed for temp control (using Gigabyte OC_Guru), as I saw that was an issue with this particular card. It worked last night, but upon trying Heaven Benchmark again today I had the same black screen results.

Guess I'll chalk this one up as a loss and start looking for a new card.
