Black screen, no bios, no beeps

Hello guys

I had a pc that started running extremely slow, then would just black screen with no bios or beeps on start up.

I thought this could be a mobo/cpu problem, and seeing as my components were going on 9 years old figured I could upgrade too.

I went big and bought an i7 8700, rog strix z370 g mobo, new sticks of ram and an m.2 for the operating system.

I've put all the pieces together today, turned it on, all lights and fans spin, but still a black screen, no bios, no beeps. I have tried both gpu hdmi/dvi and on board graphics hdmi and different monitors and leads.

During installation, I had some trouble where the cpu heat sink fan would spin and stop, nothing afterwards. But then one time it just stayed on, since then no issues with it staying on...

Is there any thoughts of what this could be? Psu purchase in my future?

Just to clarify- did you not end up upgrading your PSU? If not, what make/model is it? That could very well be the issue, plus it would be good to upgrade from a 9-year old PSU anyway.

It's a corsair 850w TX series. It didn't even occur to me that it could be the cause of the problems as everything had power to it. My next detective mission is to try it without the gpu plugged in.
