This is a weird one...

Whenever I load the "Options" menu in some games, the entire display goes black, but the game and the sounds etc are still running. I can then navigate away from the screen by clicking ESC and if I move up and down, I hear the sound to indicate that it is moving through the menu. But the screen is entirely black.

For example, Dragon Age Inquisition has this issue. I also get the issue with GTA V when I try to join a game and it says "Are you sure - press enter" etc.

I have tried re-installing drivers, checking to see if the problem persists when I use the onboard graphics (it does) and also done a fresh install of Windows from scratch - same issue!

If I disable fullscreen and work in windowed mode, the issue DOES NOT occur.

Any ideas?

This is a very strange issue, I have never seen anything like this before xD

OK, I would think this is an issue with windows as it worked in windowed mode. The first thing I would try is checking the temps for your CPU and GPU. Also check the usage for the GPU and see if you notice any strange spikes.

Hope this helps!

Okay I have managed to sort this! I use a dual monitor setup and I have one using a standard HDMI and the other is using a standard HDMI cable, but has a HDMI-DVI Adapter (As my card only has one standard HDMI port). I changed them around so the primary monitor was using just the standard HDMI cable and it has started working fine.

No idea what would have caused it. I'm sure some tech-god might be able to break it down into detail though. Just kinda annoyed I went as far as re-installing Windows when all I had to do was switch cables round ¬_¬
Live and learn I guess - Thanks for your response buddy

Yeah understandable, I would also be annoyed 😀

Glad you got it fixed 😉
