Black screen on monitor

I have an acer model G236HL 23" monitor. The issue is that the power light stays on screen remains black. Pressing the power button does not turn off the power light. Have tried unplugging and anything else i can think of any suggestions or help to this would be appreciated.

Try a proper cmos reset
Unplug the computer and PSU from the outlets and all power
Open the side of the computer
Hold the power button for 15 seconds with everything UNPLUGGED
locate on the board the CMOS battery, Looks like a watch battery, typically under the GPU or near the PCI slot
Remove the battery, when its removed, HOLD THE POWER FOR 15 SECONDS
Now put the battery back in
plug in the computer and everything back in the way it was
boot up the computer


this should give you video, if not then your GPU may be having issues or the computer

if its just the monitor, it needs to have display input in order for it to display anything or sense an input

Connect your computer and devices to electrical outlets, and turn them on.

the issue isn't within my computer but the monitor itself. As stated pressing the power button on the monitor does nothing the light remains blue no picture on display my second monitor works just fine just not sure if i was to try and repair the monitor what the culprit may be.

does your second monitor have a windows bar on the bottom when booted up

try the acer monitor by itself without the 2nd monitor connected to see if a monitor hardware problem or a monitor software problem.
