Black screen while partitioning hard disk in windows

Hello,

I just installed a new hard disk into my desktop. It booted fine, and the new disk was detected.
I proceeded to use windows disk management to partition it. About 7% into the partition process, I received an error message saying that Chrome could not operate correctly, then both my monitors had 'no signal' and went black.

Could anyone please let me know what went wrong? Thank you.

You booted off of this new disk?
If so, Did you reinstall windows or was it already on the disk?

Hello, the disk in question is the third physical disk in my desktop. Windows was already installed in another disk and the boot was fine.

Anyway I restarted after leaving the desktop for a few hours (still black screen), and when I went to disk management, the partition was listed as 'healthy'. I was highly skeptical so I reformatted it anyway. Hope there are no lasting issues.
