ASRock H97M Pro4 - mobo
xfx r9 380 2gb - gpu
corsair cx 600M - psu
wd blue 7200rpm 1tb - hdd
ballistix 2-4gb 1600- ram
Windows 10 home - os
Ok for a while now my computer has shown a black screen after around 10-40min of playing a game (arma 3, bf4 and Dark souls 3, just to name a few) the gpu fan gets louder and louder right before the black screen shows up and then the sound stops and the screen goes black. I have to then shut down the pc by holding the power button. I fixed this problem a variety of ways before but all seemed temporary. First I rolled back the drivers then it worked but after a while the black screens started to show up. Then I tried doing a system restore, that worked a few times but again the issue returned. Then I tried to change the slot my gpu was in but the problem still came back after a while. I noticed during these fixes that whenever I turned the pc off or shut down when windows needed to install updates the problem with the black screen returned after windows updates were installed so I believe that there is a high chance that this may be the problem but I'm not entirely sure. So I just need to know what is problem and how I can fix it. I am aware that there are other threads discussing this issue and some of the solutions deal with bad drivers, bad gpu or bad psu so those might be the problem but I feel hesitant too call my situation a hardware problem, but i may be wrong.
tl;dr My screen turns black while playing games the gpu fan gets loud before than, I tried fixing the problem with no luck. Problem occurs after windows updates usually.
