[SOLVED] black screen with cursor after blackout during a restart ?

screen is just black with cursor disappearing and appearing in the center of the screen and num lock is turning on and off continuously. ctrl+alt+del or ctrl+shift+esc does not work. i can access command prompt in advanced startup options so maybe i can do something there?

could be the storage drive failed

2gb ram
codegen 400w

also there was some kind of file checking on first boot with took more than an hour

check the hdd if it is spinning.

hdd spinning should make spinning noise

there's 3 fans that make noise so it's hard to know
is there any other way?

the hdd activity light? does it look like there is activity?

yes the red LED is blinking

try booting to bios and change the boot seq?

in boot device priority i have
1st FLOPPY DRIVE
HDD: PM-Hitachi HDP
ATAPI CD-ROM
changing the order does nothing

don't know if it's related but in power options processor power management i had maximum processor state set to 80% cause i was getting a blue screen crash on 100%

could try a fresh os install

Probably file system damage and/or hdd surface damage.

Reinstalling on a damaged hdd is a short term solution.
Best would be reinstalling windows on a new SSD. Then diagnose HDD and decide, if it makes sense to continue to use it or not.

i tried before the option to reinstall windows but keep files and it failed

also is that normal that just power turning off during a restart would mess up file system or HDD like that?

Yes. That can corrupt file system easily.
Powering down pc, while windows is booting up, is not a good idea.
