Black Screen with Graphics Card

I am just now putting the finishing touches on my first PC home build, thanks mostly to Petofsky's answers to my earlier thread with different problems. I have everything up and running with Windows 7 installed with one exception... The Integrated Graphics card works fine but when I try to boot up with my external graphics card I get a blank screen with no signal at all. No bios nothing. I do get the single "everything is ok" beep but nothing visual. My system is below...

Mother Board - ASUS P8H61-M LE CSM REV3 Intel 6 Series Motherboard - Micro ATX, Socket H2 (LGA1155), Intel H61 Express, DDR3 1333MHz, SATA 3.0 Gb/s, 8-Channel Audio, Gigabit LAN

Processor - Intel Core i5-2500K BX80623I52500 Unlocked Processor - Quad Core, 6MB L3 Cache, 1MB L2 Cache, 3.30 GHz (3.70 GHz Max Turbo), Socket H2 (LGA1155), 95W, Fan

DVD Player - Lite-On IHAS124-04 Internal DVD Writer - DVD+R 24X, DVD-R 24X, DVD+RW 8X, DVD-RW 6X, DVD+R DL 8X, SATA (OEM)

RAM (2 sticks) - Patriot PSD34G13332H Signature PC10600 4GB DDR3 Memory Upgrade - 1333MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, CL9, 1x4096MB

Hard Drive - Seagate 500GB Serial ATA HD 7200/16MB/SATA-6G

Power Supply - HEC HP585DR Orion Power Supply - 585W, Dual 80mm Fans, Dual +12V Rails

OS - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64BIT Operating System Software - OEM DVD, English

All of the above works fine and is up and running until I add this...

Graphics Card - EVGA 01G-P3-1526-KR GeForce GT 520 Video Card - 1GB, DDR3, PCI-Express 2.0 (x16), Dual DVI-I, Mini-HDMI, DirectX 11, Single-Slot

I've reset the graphics card a number of times to make sure it's firmly and fully in place and I reset the CMOS. I read all the mother board and graphics card materials but there wasn't anything helpful. What should I do? This is my first time building a computer so I probably missed something very basic.

I had the same problem. But when I swapped out the Dedicated GPU it booted and when I put back the card I couldn't get to go it went. Had a 560 ti which didn't work. Swapped out out for a 7800 GTX which did work. Put back in 560 Ti and that worked for some reason.

Depower the Motherboard completely. Remove the GPU. Boot the PC on the Onboard GPU. Shut down and depower again. Reinsert Dedicated GPU. I cant guarantee it will work but lets give it a go.

Make sure that you actually plug in the power for the GPU should be a 6pin or 8pin from the PSU's 12V rail. Its a silly mistake, but one ive made myself when being too quick about things.

Other than that I do not have any good suggestions. Wamphryis suggestions sounds like one of those "wtf" cases you sometimes get with computers, where things are completely beyond any comprehension of why or how. So try that if you can.

Otherwise, it sounds mostly like a fault on the graphics card itself. Test it in another machine if you have the chance.
