I had a pre-built gaming pc and after my gtx 760 broke i replaced it with a gtx 970. In this upgrade I also got a new power supply and case. When the graphics card arrived yesterday, I put it in my pc and installed the drivers. (I didn't delete the previous graphics drivers because the forum threads I saw said it wasn't necessary if you were going from a Nvidia to a Nvidia card.) When I replaced the graphics card it worked perfectly and played some video games to test it out and make sure everything was working perfectly. I ended up playing for 6 hours straight and everything was fine. Than I woke up today and turned my pc on to find that it wouldn't boot properly. I hit the power button and after the pc goes into windows it black screens, i also noticed that the fans on my graphics card stopped spinning whenever it black screens. I don't really know what the issue is or how to fix it. Can anyone help me?

Specs:
Intel Core i7 4820k
EVGA GTX 970 4gb
16gb of ram
Windows 8.1
750 watt power supply

Unfortunately I don't. What I don't understand about that is how a brand new card can go from working to not working in a matter of a few hours.

Bad quality control sometimes? Same thing happened to me with a HIS Radeon 7850 a couple years ago. Worked for a few hours and then hard broke.
It's possible that something else is going on in your system but testing the video card in another computer would be the best way to determine if it is the culprit.
