Black screens in games

Hello guys, I have just built myself my first ever computer, specs below

AMD FX6300
MSI 970A G43 MOBO
Corsair CX750 PSU
WD Cavuiar Blue 1TB HDD
AMD 3850 GPU

The idea was to build a basic gaming PC with an R9270x GPU but given costs my father has given me the old 3850 as a GPU to get the machine working as there are no integrated graphics with these components. Since building the machine I have two concerns.

Mouse stutter - The mouse stutters slightly when moving across the screen, not on every occasion but it appears to be getting more frequent. The mouse works fine on my old laptop and the driver is up to date. I have now tried 3 different USB ports but am still seeing a slight stutter, any idea what may be causing this?

Black screens - The GPU is working fine to display Windows but during gameplay it has had issues. I played GTR2 last night for about an hour with no problems at all on medium settings. I have also managed to play NFS Shift on medium settings for half an hour. However several other games have caused issues (Race 07, Sim City, GT Legends) when playing these games (again on medium settings) I get 5 minutes in and the screen goes blank. My monitor goes to sleep and the GPU fan starts spinning at 100%. Temperatures inside the case seem absolutely fine so I do not believe it is overheating. I have checked that the drivers are up to date and they are. That is about the limit of my knowledge. As I say this is my first ever build and I am still relatively novice with these things. Does anyone have any ideas? I have seen some suggestions whilst searching online about a faulty rail on the PSU maybe causing this but using windows for hours does not cause issues and some other games seem fine so I am very much scratching my head.

To add a little more to this, I have discovered something in the event viewer just before I am forced to reboot. I have tried leaving the PC for up to 10 minutes to see if an error or pop up would appear but nothing. So based on the below it would appear to be an AMD FUEL issue. Does anyone have a recommended fix for this? I wonder if this may also fix my lagging mouse?

Thank you for the advice guys. However, I believe I have resolved the issue. By disabling the AMD fuel service the black screens have now ceased. This will keep me happy until I get my new GPU.

As for the mouse issue, I found an interesting fix whilst searching the web but it seems to have worked so thought I would mention it here in case anyone else has similar issues.

Using AMD Catalyst I have selected GPU scaling. That was it! Since this setting was applied I have not seen any mouse stutter at all.
