Black vertical hyphen/dots on monitor??

Hi all,

I'm getting these strange black vertical hyphens on my screen. it all started during gaming. the strange thing is it only occurs on some screens and apps.

EDIT: My setup is

CPU: AMD FX 6300
GPU: Sapphire R9 280 OC
PCB: Asus M5a97 R2.0 Evo
