Black vs Red for NAS system

hi I'm tired of losing and finding all usb drives that i carry, so i decided to use cloud storage.

At first I was planning to use google drive 100GB, but in terms of long period use, building a NAS PC would be better in terms of capacity and reliablity.

So what I need to do is decide which hard drive to use in PC.

1. WD red 1tb: $75, 3year warranty, 5400rpm

2. WD black 1tb: $82, 5year warranty, 7200rpm

I know red is for nas, but a 5-year-warranty seems to be a great feature in terms of maintenance and long term use.

Could you help me out please?

Red. Especially if in raid, they cope better with delayed reads and don't ditch the whole array, they also cope better with 24x7, and with this being over GBe at best they'll still saturate it.

Can you not get 2TB's? they should only be a bit more than 1TB's.

I don't know where you get your prices but

Storage: Western Digital Red 3TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive ($106.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($73.88 @ OutletPC)

for 30$ more you get red 3tb drive instead of 1tb and it is designed for NAS accessing. and continuous indexing etc.

better go for 3tb
