On a Blackberry on a Verizon plan, does the unit use up minutes when it
collects email automatically in the background?

Does it collect email even when roaming?

Are there any other phones which collect email in the background rather than
on a request/reply model?

Any stories or pros/cons of the Blackberry with Verizon service?
