Blank Blu-ray BD – Re disk error this disc is write protected

I have bought brand-new Blu-ray rewritable discs and my disk drive will not read them or detect that they are there in the drive. Every time I click on the drive icon to access the CD drive it gives me the option to either use the disc as a flash drive or or burn files to CD or. The second option is grayed out so I can only use the first option. At which point he then tells me this disc is write protected and I am unable to do anything with it. My drive should be read writer combo and a Blu-ray rewriter, in fact it could just be a Blu-ray reader and writer or burner if you prefer to call that as it says So specifications Page on ASUS Website.

You definitely need to figure out what is the optical drive. Here is a guide:

From there, you can figure out if your drive even supports Bluray writing.

If it does support Bluray writing, that either you have a bad batch of disks (happens when exposed to heat/light), or perhaps a firmware upgrade to the drive will then support the discs.

I didn't solve it. I bought a blu ray rom and it had a dvd burner built in. I had to buy a blue ray burner
