Hello all, I have this very annoying problem while installing Windows on my MBA 11 (Mid-2012).

MacBook Air 11" (Mid 2012- Intel Core i5 1.7 3rd gen, 4 GB, HD 4000)

I have tried installing Windows 7 (HP, Premium), Windows 8 and Windows 8 pro.

They install fine but during installation of Bootcamp drivers when it reaches Intel HD Graphics, the screen flickers and then black.

I have tried the following;
1) Disabled Driver verification enforcement.
2) Tried uninstalling in safemode (yea it goes in safe mode, so it is definitely graphic drivers issue).
3) Tried fresh installing Win7 and 8 again n again.

Previously I had windows but I wanted to fresh install again but I can't now.

Anyone else facing/faced this issue before ?

Solution

For Windows 8/8.1, there is only one version that is available as a trial, Windows 8.1 Enterprise.
Windows 7, you can install and you have 30 days before you need to enter the license key and activate.

Downloaded some time ago from tech verse something website. They are not cracked just ISO files. They are working fine on other computers. In fact I can install it properly on my macbook also but the REAL problem is driver installation. The bootcamp Setup software On reaching Intel HD drivers the screen flickers and then turns blank.

No, but I don't intend to use them forever (I didn't bought a mac for windows). I need it for 2 weeks.

Does it needs to be registered to work? I have original windows 8 in my PC, I can use that license if that what it takes.

The licence key for Windows 8, has that been used on your PC? The registration code for Windows 8 will be locked in on Microsoft's network. If and when you use the same installer on another machine with the same code it will show up as invalid and in order to activate your copy of windows, you'll need to contact Microsoft to prove you are the legitimate owner and ofc pay for the licence fee.

You can use the ISO's but after the trial activation period is over, you're pretty much dead in the water.
