Question Blank screen after changing the CPU ?

Hi All,

I get a black screen on boot up when after i swapped out a AMD CPU for an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU on my gaming PC Tower

Works fine when i put the old CPU back

Any ideas where this is going wrong

Probably BIOS needs update but without knowing which MB and "new" and "old" CPU it's difficult to start guessing. Need to know those as well as current BIOS version.

Gone into Bios and get this

Current AMD 3



Its says A320M-S2H model name in the bios (Gigabyte)

Current Bios Version F2

Flash Type Size MXIC 25U128 Series - 16MB

But so many variations on the website

Bios Date 02/25/2021

Dont want to flash the wrong one and kill it

Need to know the exact model of current CPU, and the CPU you are trying to install. Without that information, it is impossible to make any real recommendations.

MB is built for first Ryzen , any other CPU and it needs progressively never BIOS.
Here's the list of which BIOS is compatible with which Ryzen

You will not "kill it" with newest available BIOS version but with some like5000 series Ryzen first Ryzen will not work.
PS. Hope you are not sticking CPU with more than 6 cores in that MB. The 5950x listed there is a joke and fire hazard.

It wasn't compatible so moved onto another pc
