Hello,

While my Toshiba Satellite was downloading an update, I powered off by pushing the reset button. Now it powers back up but a blank screen. Tried attaching a new monitor to it, still a dark screen. Any ideas.

Why did you not just cancel the update ?

Depending on the architecture, the reset button might have different effects. On PCs, usually it is connected to the motherboard, and when pressed it sends a reset signal to all peripherals. Newer systems don't even have one.

Files may have gotten corrupted in which case booting into safe mode & selecting last known good configuration may help, but I have seen this to have no affect, more than solve. Check device manager for display to see if error being reported, update driver, maybe roll back driver.

You might try holding power button down 15-20 seconds (Hard rreset), then try powering up.
