Blinking power light

Hi
My toshiba satellite laptop doesn't turn on. When I connect the power adapter to it the green led power light blinks for a split second then nothing.
I've tried the battery out and power disconnected and holding power button down but no luck.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Blinking light on power brick generally means there's a short or break in the cable/worn cable insulation.
If the short was on the mains voltage side it would blow the plug fuse or trip the main house fuse, so I'm guessing the short is on the low voltage cable which is non-replaceable. That means you have to get a new power brick if indeed that is faulty (it may not be).

Try and borrow another toshiba power brick which has the same output voltage and wattage (mW) just for testing purposes.
