When the full game is release do you think I will be able to get a constant 144+ FPS on custom settings between medium and high @1080p with a GTX 970, i7 4790k, 8gb of ram? Do you think that a 500 USD-ish pascal card could kill Overwatch at 1080 on epic settings?

Note: Yes, I do have a 144hz monitor (Asus VG24QE)

Nobody knows what the 970/980 Pascal replacements will be either price wise or performance wise, so any answer would be complete conjecture. With that said, a single 970 is not enough, even at medium/medium high quality settings, to run most current games at 144+FPS at 1080p. You's see that at 720p or at 900p at reduced settings.

At what AA setting? Also FYI BF4 is like Star Wars Battlefront...extremely GPU friendly as a console port. You won't get near that in Witcher 3 or Far Cry 4 for example. A single 970 can run it at 1440p on ultra and 2xMSAA at over 60fps, or over 100fps at 1080p on the same settings: https://www.guru3d.com/index.php?ct=articles&action=file&id=13831&admin=0a8fcaad6b03da6a6895d1ada2e171002a287bc1

^^To put that into perspective, I could only run Witcher 3 at 1440p in the 30s to low 40s on Ultra and 2xAA with a single factory overclocked 970. At 1080p and 4xAA with all else being equal, it was into the 60s on average.
