You can call carrier and they will blacklist sim.

If your carriers are anything like usa carriers then while your carrier MIGHT care enough to blacklist your sim, a different carrier will be more then happy to have a new customer on their service with your stolen phone. Its a win for everyone right, you get to a buy a new phone from your carrier (at unsubsidized price), and some other carrier gets a new customer with your stolen phone.
