I am trying to block youtube on my network at router level, it works for PC's, they cannot access youtube, but doesn't work on other devices that use an app, such as xbox, fireTV, android etc.
You do I need to block so that youtube is blocked on all devices.

It has become very hard to block content lately. Since almost all sites are switching over to HTTPS your router can not longer see the URL all it sees is port 443 and the ip address. All sites pretty much look the same. There are some tricks to try to block using DNS filter but these do not work with all devices. Many devices now have their own DNS server to partially to prevent people from using dns tricks to try to bypass regional restrictions.

You can try to block by IP address but youtube uses many so you will have to block a number and hope they do not change too much.

I discovered that my crappy netgear router does not block https, thus why this is happening.
The only solution I have found is to use openDNS, but then blocks youtube for all devices in the house, so even I cannot watch it.
