This sound kind of evil but I am very disappointed by my DS3. I can boot at 340 FSB but it is not stable in Prime95 or SPi.
I'm sittin at 335 FSB and it is still not stable in Prime95 but seems to be in SPi.
I've upped the voltage to 1.42 and does not help stability. Should I up to 1.5 and try to see if it stable? But even if it works, i am reluctant to leave it at 1.5 for 24/7. I don't have any heat problems with 40C on double Prime95. I've also upped MCH +0.1 but that did not help.
I'm seeing many other people hit over 400FSB on stock voltage and it makes me want to cry.
I'm also hearing a screaching and ticking noise either from the DS3 or my BFG7900GT when I run Prime95 on blend. The noise is coming near the south bridge, right under the PCI-E slot for my 7900GT.
So back to the main point, how to blow up my DS3? I have access to function generators, DC generators, pretty much anything u can have in a electronic test lab because I'm working as a summer student in a electronic repair shop. I'm not sure how a mobo usually fails and would appreciate any help on "blowing up" my DS3 to get an exchange (I have a 7 day direct replacement from the place that I bought from).
NOTES: My DS3 has fallen off the table once, maybe some internal bleeding happened to the board. I'm exchanging my OCZ 6400 plat rev 2 today because one of the sticks was bad, maybe new stick will help my rig.
EDIT: Can i just run a magnet over the bios chip (which chip is that?) And how do i blow up ram? The store is chinese owned and those guys will be very picky but I am 100% sure 1 stick is bad because when i use that stick alone to boot, it wont boot but i can boot with jus the other stick.
