That's what I'm hoping, looks huge in the pick but real life damn it's tiny. Also the last 3 on the right, those look right? Haven't done intel for a LONG time so not sure what normal looks like here.. i5-2500k is what were lookin at..

I've got some of this stuff, I wish they said exactly what the cleaner is, even on the bottle no ingredients, I would think by law they would have to have info for poison control, but nada..

Off ebay, day one after "2 day" usps took 9 days, and I'm in the do I wanna keep it or punt, at this point if there is a problem, the seller has a good case against usps.

But a i5-2500k for $115 a ASUS P8Z68-V PRO for $78 (not here yet so can't just plug it in and check) add the r7 260 I just picked up for $58, and well that's a pretty strong $251 system, and fingers crossed it all comes together and actually works..

(pulling 16gb of ram and visiontek 240gb pci-e ssd from my old system)
Smokin I'm thinkin

You bought a used CPU from ebay, with that goop on it?
Did the seller disclose this before you bought it?

For me, undisclosed 'goo' on the CPU would be an immediate return. No question.

Yeah it was sent 2 day on the 11th schd. for 14th, no show, "precessing exception" wait, wait, mlk day, wait. drop dead date if it's not here by tues. 19th deal off, arrives on tues.(goop included)

Now my f'ups, buy mobo, 1150 mobo, oopps, cancel by 1155 mobo.. ECS X77H2-A3 V1.2, boy that sound's good X77H2 X=Extreme in intel speak?? Well nope it equals multiplier locked worst possible, buy it on ebay now, choice.

Next.. Asus P8H61-M LE R2.0 ok Asus, check, read the manual, plenty of overclock info in there ok lets get it.. Well looking closer no heatsinks on the vrm's, only 4 pin secondary power, 3 + 1 + 1 power phase whatever the f that is but it ain't good. Finally some luck, amazon seller sleeping on his money and hasn't shipped CANCEL phhew..

So now some luck.. ASUS P8Z68-V PRO "as new" never installed $78 delivered, Radeon R7 260 new in box, $58 delivered, add one gunky i5-2500k for $115 and its been a good bad week..

"For me, undisclosed 'goo' on the CPU would be an immediate return. No question."

Yeah return it, start cpu search from scratch, pay more for a i5-2500k/i5-3570K/i7-2600K/i7-2700k or get that new old stock Xeon e3-1270 that keeps wispering $112.. $112.. wait.. watch head explode.. wait..

And on a less philosophical note, I've had far more issues with brand new gear than used, new I don't know maybe 10/15% doa/returns used, I can't think of the last time I bought something used repped as working that did not, and I don't ever recall a cpu that actually died on me..

Mobo's yes, most cwapshoot product you can buy, not really that surprising, so much complex tech, in such a small space, relying on multiple vendors to supply interdependent components with final assembly usually being handled by a head scratching primate with 10 thumbs, it's a miracle anyone has a working rig.

And the verdict is??? Post toasties!!! Yeah!! Got it running on the ECS board..

Now I just need to figure out if the loser I bought the Asus board from is going to produce. Claimed in an email he shipped 2 days ago (50 miles away max) but he didn't give a tracking #, he didn't use ebay or paypal to print or pay for postage, he didn't mark it as shipped on ebay, all very shaydouchable behavior imo..
