As I'm about to head off to University next year I want to take some movies to play on my pc, however it doesn't come with a blu-ray drive. I have found a good one and i already have the software that can run blu-ray movies Cyberlink media suite 10.

However i have been reading that only a hdmi cable with a montor with HDCP can play blu-ray movies, apparently if you run the player on a non HDCP monitor it will give you an error message.

Can someone clear this up for me, will i be able to watch blu-ray movies with my stuff above?
Ideally in a good quality.

TY for any help

Andy 😀

Your monitor must be it states this in the description

Full HD LED Monitor

The 1920 x 1080 resolution of this LED monitor delivers excellent detail, making it perfect for advanced 1080p Full HD gaming, multimedia and productivity applications, providing advantages such as Blu-ray Disc console gaming or widescreen cinematic playback.

Ok.. Thats is basically telling me what HDCP is and what DVI is. Doesn't really answer my question.

Will i be able to watch blu-ray movies with my monitor through the dvi cable?

So it doesn't matter if my monitor doesn't support HDCP, cause i've read a few reviews where people are having error messages as their monitor doesn't support HDCP.

Makes sense.. Amazon is always pretty limited on information but I did find a few sites that state that the monitor supports HDCP though Dvi:

There were a few sites like scan and tesco which said it didn't.

^ Me basically clearing it up for myself as well 😀

Get a DVI cable to connect two DVI things together.

I have had the same issue when I bought my Blu Ray optical drive to play my favorite movies on blu ray but unfortunately I couldn't get it to play on my monitor because it does not have HDMI , I even bought a VGA To HDMI converter but I still got the same error msg when playing blu ray , plus the quality was way way down when using the converter so I wouldn't play Blu ray using the converter even if I didn't get the error and could actually play the movie. My suggestion is to get a new monitor that supports HDMI . I am getting a IPS panel monitor since color quality is really important to me , specially for movies .
