Blu-ray vs Wireless Network

I just treated myself to a Samsung blu-ray player. In hooking it up, I find it needs to be hard-wired to a router. We are wireless in this house and the router is on the other side of the house. Can't I connect my wireless-capable laptop (Windows 7) to the router? (It plays Netflix movies just fine.) I need to buy the USB cord, so I'm asking first, maybe I need to take the player back and get something else. I saw both yes and no answers to this question elsewhere in the forum, so I'm confused. Thank you.

What you need is a wireless bridge. Here is an inexpensive wireless extender that can be used as a wireless bridge:

You connect the extender to your router wirelessly, and you connect your blu-ray player to the extender using a network cable.
