Blu Ray writers?

I've looked at some Blu Ray writers on newegg. They look around 150 dollar price range, and I'm wondering if I'm not creating a movie, would there be a point in purchasing a Blu Ray reader/writer?

Not unless you create movies, if you just looing to back stuff up you can get a 3TB HDD for that price.
