Blue or red pixels appearing during game

Hi!

During a game of PUBG, blue or red or rarely yellowish pixels in darker areas occur out of nowhere. It has also occured on Call of Duty WW2. In other games that I play it doesn't happen (Rocket League, League of Legends, CS:GO). It occurs randomly during the game. There are sessions when I just play the game for 5 minutes and it occurs, but other sessions it could take some time or it doesn't appear at all. When I alt tab to my desktop I can notice that the pixels of some places are also red/blue. Alt tab back into the game and it doesn't go away. What does help is alt tab to my desktop, turn off my screen and turning it on again, tab back into the game and the pixels are gone, but they can appear again and sometimes this happens pretty fast so I will need to do it multiple times during a game session.

I'm not sure if this is caused by my graphic card as it only occurs in the two games of the five that I play. What makes this more confusing is when it occurs in the game and I switch the source of my monitor to HDMI which is not connected to any source, almost my entire screen will be blue when I have blue pixels. If I get the red pixels, it sometimes display red/pink screen or it stays black like it is supposed to be. I will put links to videos and images below to show you the problem.

This has all happened only on DisplayPort source. I've tried playing on HDMI source for a session and the issue did not occur. My monitor supports 144hz only on DisplayPort and 120hz on HDMI, so this why I use DisplayPort. I've also tried to reinstall GPU drivers in safe mode and it did not fix the issue.

My setup:
MSI M5 Z170A
i5 6600k
MSI GTX 1080 8G
16GB DDR4
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB
W10 64-bit
Samsung C24FG70 (Monitor)

All help is appreciated! I still have warranty over both monitor and graphic card.

Solution
3 tips that will almost fix your problems:
1. If the gpu is oced especially its memory than try to reset it. Usually oc gpus memory can cause artifacts and strange coloured pixels.
2. If 1 doesnt work test a different cablez maybe its sending corrupted data.
3. If those 2 doesn't work is 100% the monitors fault and you should change it.

Solution
i going to tell you i very seriously doubt that the monitor is at fault... it is your graphics settings or cable bottom line, but with the symptoms you described i would imagine it is related to overclocking.

I have not changed anything or overclocked my GPU except for the fan profile in Afterburner. I think MSI did a factory OC but are you suggesting that I should reset the factory OC?

Hi Tonynge,

You can't reset the factory OC because it's written in the card BIOS.
But with MSI afterburner you can put a negative offset on the memory/clock to test if it solves the problem.
If it solves the problem, dis no good... This means that your card is probably dying...
