blue orb on gf2 GTS

ok, i got a blue orb ord for my eVGA GTS not to o.c. it, but because the stock hsf looked kinda weak. it seems to do the trick but i have a couple of questions. 1) on the back of the card directly where the GPU is its pretty hot after use, is this normal on all cards? 2) the blue orb doesnt fit completely on the GPU, because the blue orb is circle shaped and the GPU is square shaped, so the edges on the GPU are not covered, is this ok?

the back of my geforce 3 gets HOT, and so does my friends geforce 2 ultra, and another friends geforce 2 MX, so I'm guessing this is just typical of nvidia cards.
As far as the HSF not fully covering your GPU? I'm sure its ok.

having the edges of your gpu not in contact with the heatsink is not good... at all... you are better off sticking to the stock heat sink...

if in doubt blame microsoft...

killall, so i should not use the blue orb?? it looks so cool :(

shouldnt it be ok if the edges aren't covered? theyre like less than a mm. and this HSF is made for video cards/chipsets too.. plus the stock hsf that came with it is thin and doesn't feel secure/tight on the card like the orb does.

if youre not looking to overclock your card i see no reason for using the blue orb... less than a mm should be fine but im not certain...

if in doubt blame microsoft...

"the card is made for video cards, and just happens to work with mainboard chipsets as well, you will be fine."

Huh? What does that mean, the card is made for video cards? Do you mean the cooler, the blorb, is made for video cards? Yes it is, and I was going to use it, but killall recomended I look for others, and I have found two that look way better.
The first one here: <A HREF="http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/4/166.htm?944" target="_new">http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/4/166.htm?944</A>

This second one I know will work really good, but takes up a PCI slot (I only use two anyway, NIC and Sound):

The second one gets good reviews. The first isn't too much more expensive than the blorb, actually same price almost. The second one is only 5 bucks more.

Mate, I wouldn't be buying a heatsink and fan just because it looks cool. There are reviews out there that will tell you which coolers are good and which are not, and I can tell you now, the blue orb is not exactly a great cooler.

All the wassailing in the poad will not maketh the cracken bend any fustier. Think about it.

But he mentioned he is not going to overclock, so he should be alright. I remember a guy using the blorb on a Kyro II and overclocked it to make it go over 200, which was unheard of. But if wanna go loco, see my earlier links.

The blue orb will cool a bit more than the standard heatsink/fan on most GeForce2 cards but it is not a efficent cooler. There are others out there do a much better job. But if your doing it for visuals only, a Blue orb is the way to go. Add some Thermaltake Blue Ramsinks with it if your going for visuals. If your going to overclock I reccomend a small Socket 370 heatsink/Fan combo and some type of Epoxy. Expect to lose a PCI slot as well.

Blah, Blah Blahh, Blahh, blahh blah blahh, blah blah.
