Hey everybody,

I've been looking to buy a new laptop. I am intending to use it to replace my desktop and current laptop, both of which are fairly outdated. I want to "future proof" the best I can so I don't have this issue again for quite some time -.-

Currently, I am wondering if it is worth it to upgrade to a blue ray drive in a laptop or not. I am curious if it will become the new standard for gaming discs or something along those lines.

Thanks for your time and help in advance,
Sotesko

a blu-ray disk standard is far out. There wont be a chance for a standard until the drives dip below $100, and even then it will depend on how much OEMs take to it. If you plan to keep this laptop for 3+ years than it may not be a horrible idea, but it wont be needed for games. We are moving towards downloaded games more than disk games.

That makes sense. Thank you very much for the quick response. Was very helpful in my decision making process. Any other tips for future proofing? Ha.

Thanks again for all the help.
