Hello, I'm brand new to this site, if this is in the wrong category please could anyone direct me to the correct one.

I recently discovered the blue input in the rear of my pc, i thought i'd test it with a pair of speakers. When i plugged the cord in and played sounds, they are very faint and inaudible. It's like listening to music through a phone speaker but water damaged. If anyone could send feedback, that would be much appreciated.

Unless your PC / sound card is not using the standard colors, then blue is usually a "line-in" port.

A "line-in" means it's a way for the computer to get audio from external devices such as a stereo, tape player, CD player, ETC. The "in" means that's where audio goes IN to the PC.

A microphone is a line-in type of device, but it's usually a weak (mono) signal and has it's own port. Line-in is usually made for stronger signals such as a stereo.
