Blue screen: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Hey guys.

I am desperate right know. I recently bought a new PC and build it myself. Since then I have got this BSOD. I have tried everything. Reinstalled windows 3 times cleanly over, tried all driver settings, removed network card, did LinX memory test. Everything with no result.

The IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL always happens after the PC has been off for half an hour. It boots, gives the crash and reboots just fine.

Intel Core i5 8400 - Processor

Solution
no point running memtest on both sticks, as if you do get any errors, you cannot tell which of the sticks caused it. Do one stick all night, and then other next if you need to.


I have updated the BIOS to the latest version. I am not overclocking my RAM. In fact it is underclocked. It can go to 3000mhz, it is at 2133. I have had it on both speeds, and the same results when looking at the BSOD. Will try using 1 ram stick, i'll report back if it works or not.

I did reset my BIOS to the default settings, at the same time I set my ram to the locked latency. The latency I used was what the manafaturer uses for the RAM.

I cannot say which of the two things fixed the BSOD. Or if it fixed the BSOD at all. But I haven't had the BSOD in almost 10 cold boots. I remain skeptic till I haven't got the BSOD for over a month but this is looking really promosing. THANKS!
 
IRQ errors can be driver errors, go to MSI web site for motherboard and go to utility section, download and run MSI Live update 6. It will check you have latest drivers for motherboard - that might fix bsod. I will get someone to read dump for me and convert it into a file i can read.
 


I already did the live update 6. I will try it once again maybe there is a new update, but I doubt it since I updated it a week ago.

That would be great, struggling with this BSOD for atleast 3 weeks already 🙁
 


I did use the LinX memory test and ran it for a full 3 hours with no errors whatsoever. I also ran a Memtest86 for 1 pass. Again with no result.
 
Hi, the 2nd link you provided doesn't work. The first link you provided is to debugger info from the dump file. We need the actual .dmp file as we can gather more information from it (such as list of drivers, BIOS info, etc).

Upload the actual .dmp files from your C:\Windows\minidump folder. You may need to copy them to your desktop (or Documents) folder before uploading).

check under Other drivers on MSI web site, you should find Intel Management Engine Interface version 11.7.0.1067 dated 17 May 2018, (One day after your BIOS was released, no coincidence) your currently installed version of same file is dated October 2017, updating it may help (odd MSI live update 6 missed it)

Memtest 86 finds no errors

curious, try running bios with ram at defaults, not at the latency it says it should run at, just see if they changes anything. Is ram on manufacturers compatibility list for motherboard?

I mean, we can still run 1 test to see if it is a driver...

Download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB (If you don't have one now, its a handy boot drive

Run system restore before the next thing and create a backup to roll back to if necessary. Sometimes Driver verifer will put you into a boot loop so it helps to have a win 10 installer handy to get out again. Then you can just run system restore and roll back to the restore point above

Try running driver verifer, just read the instructions carefully. It is part of win 10 designed to find misbehaving drivers. It will cause BSOD, that is its job since it tests drivers.

Once it bsod, upload the minidump file and we see what it shows us. If it doesn't find anything, we look elsewhere.

Another choice is download and run Intel processor diagnostic tool and check CPU out as its another peice of the data puzzle
 
One stick of memory gave me BSOD. This time it said: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT.

Trying the other stick right now.

Will also do a full memtest86 for a whole night with both sticks. And in the upcoming weekend I will use my brothers RAM. His ram has the same speeds and size as mine but is on the motherboards compatability list and mine isn't. I surely hope that that will fix it and that I can use his ram and he mine.
