[SOLVED] Blue Screen of Death After Closing Game

Hey everyone,

I recently built a new PC with a Ryzen 3700X on an ASROCK b450m pro4 motherboard. I put my gpu (MSI GTX 1070 Gaming) from my old computer into the new one. I've updated my drivers but I keep getting a BSOD. I even reinstalled windows. It usually occurs after closing a graphically intensive game like Battlefield 1. I keep getting different memory error related issues. is ram on motherboard list?

Try running memtest86 on each of your ram sticks, one stick at a time, up to 4 passes. Only error count you want is 0, any higher could be cause of the BSOD. Remove/replace ram sticks with errors.

not all memory errors are hardware, many are drivers. I will get someone to read/convert dump files.

I updated my bios about a month ago. I have 4 sticks of 2133 ddr4 ram equaling to 16gb. I'll need to get a USB stick to run memtest, I seem to have lost mine. Do the minidumps indicate anything?

Thank you. I would like to add that this never happens while I'm gaming. It's always AFTER I have closed a game I was playing.

2 chrome and one origin, i would interpret it as the LAN drivers.
Do you use wifi or Ethernet?

since motherboard does haven't wifi, I think you need newer WIFI drivers

there should be newer realtek LAN drivers on ASrock website, they show as 2019 there but you have drivers from 2018 installed

I have an Ethernet cable and I have downloaded the drivers you have suggested. But the links you gave me probably led me to my solution. I didn't download the AMD all in one VGA driver. I'll let you know if this fixes the BSOD error.

I updated the drivers and ran the memtest. The memtest showed no errors. The BSOD's still keep happening after closing the game. Would this be faulty motherboard or gpu because that's what I'm thinking is the issue.

memory management errors can be drivers or memory. I normally look at them from the software side first.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the Nvidia drivers. Try this, run DDU and instead of grabbing newest drivers from Nvidia, run windows update and let windows find drivers. I ran DDU in safe mode and reinstalled the drivers through windows. Any hd sentinel that doesnt require registration gave no errors. I ran ChkDsk on both my SSD's and there was no error. I booted up Battlefield V and as soon as I exited out of the game: BSOD.

I reinstalled windows again, this time through a USB with a new Serial Key(the key was free due to a college account) and only installed windows drivers, google chrome, steam, and origin. Booted up origin and when I quit BFV, I get BSOD. If a fresh install is doing nothing, I think this is a hardware issue. I think it's between the motherboard and the gpu

Since you have a Ryzen 3700X and its part of the Matisse family - Ryzen 7 3700X—Zen 2 (7nm), Matisse (desktop CPU) - then you could update motherboard bios to 3.60. Family version matters as bios has a warning saying not to install if CPU is part of the following families - *ASRock do NOT recommend updating this BIOS if Pinnacle, Raven, Summit or Bristol Ridge CPU is being used on your system.

I would update BIOS as its about only change you can make to Motherboard - https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450M Pro4/#BIOS - make sure to follow any steps they mention in process, as it says - If the current BIOS version is older than P2.00, please update BIOS to P2.00(PinnaclePI-AM4_1.0.0.6) before updating this version.

only ways to test GPU are benchmarks or putting it in another PC and see if same things happen. I assume it was previous build and worked fine in it?

I RMA'd the motherboard and that didn't fix it. I got a new gpu and that didn't fix it either. I replaced the ram despite mem86 saying there was nothing wrong with it. The new ram ended up fixing the issue. The old ram is not defective(since it still works with intel) but I think there's a compatibility issue either with Ryzen or the Motherboard.
