I got the blue screen of death this morning when I turned my comp on (ProBook 4520s hp laptop). First off, my laptop wouldn't turn on (it wouldn't assemble the four colours of the windows flag to move over to the login) and then I turned it off by holding the power button. I then turned it back on and used startup repairs (this happened to me a couple of times before and this is how i fixed it). Everything was fine, but when I logged in my laptop said: "sorttbls.nlp was not found". Then another message popped up saying: "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown." Right after I read the message, the blue screen of death appeared and restarted my comp. I am writing this from safe mode, and I don't know how to fix this as this error keeps going like this in circles (turn it on, messages, blue screen, turn it on etc..). Please help?

btw I tried system restore, and it didn't work
also, i cannot turn my antivirus on (symantec)

Btw thanks a lot for helping me

You said you could get into safe mode. This is what you need to do in order to uninstall symantec.

CLASS.PNP.SYS is now the last file that shows up when opening safe mode and I can no longer access safe mode. I will try fixing it but im not sure how. After I turn my comp on it checks the c folder but always fails. An error occurs.

I fixed safe mode! Now proceeding to uninstalling symantec. Are you sure that reinstalling symantec will make the error and blue screen go away?

I can't guarantee the error won't reappear once you reinstall symantec, but at least you will know what is causing the problem and you can permanantly uninstall symantec if it continues to cause you grief. There are plenty of other antivirus programs out there for you to choose from, even free ones.
