Hello!

Specs:
i5 4670K, Intel.
Stock 780 TI, Gigabyte.
16gb ram, Corsair.
RM 750W, Corsair.
Z87-Pro, Asus.

So today I decided to try overclocking my CPU. Keep in mind this is my first time. I saw some videos online and found out that Asus (Which my Mobo is) have a program called Dual Intelligent Processors 4, or AI suit 3. (Think it's the same thing). So I tried the easy tuning, not the extreme one, and it came too 4,2Ghz. I opened up CPU-CUPID and it went from 4-4,2ghz. So It jumped a bit. So I dont know many burn tests etc, so I havent tried that out yet. But I tried doing the Windows System Check. (That windows thing that rates your computer). And 60% into the check I got a Bluescreen, with a big smiley.

My question is: What caused the blue screen? Shouldnt I use that program for overclocking? and if I want to downlock back to the factory clock, how can I do that?
And please, if there is something else, tell me 😛

Thanks!

Edit: Oh, I have windows 8 if that means anything. I did the system test again, and it worked this time. Something else I notice I get some kind of coil-whine ish sound from now and then, what might be the cause of this?

You should go into that tuning program and it should be easy to find the option for default settings. To really do a successful, stable overclock you need to learn how to do it via the bios settings. You need to learn about multipliers, bus speeds, voltage settings, cpu and chipset cooling, case airflow etc.... Manual overclocking is the way to go. I would suggest hitting up a forum that is geared toward overclocking. There are several good ones.
