After updating windows my computer will go straight to a blue screen after I log in. I tried a system restore but it failed and I tried a chkdsk but it said "Failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50"
What else can I try?

Solution

If the problem persists :
read this thread Windows 7 notebook, BSOD (win32k.sys)
and search for more threads regarding BSOD win32k.sys and look for similarities with your case

if win32k.sys is corrupted, you need to replace it (and do a virus scan after that ... just in case)
■ That message can also mean that the disk is corrupted.
Do you use Raid or in the update process you have updated RAID or Sata drivers ?
Also verify if the previous BIOS settings regarding RAID or sata mode (ahci or ata) are unchanged.

If is not those above , try to enter in safe mode and uninstall any virtual drivers (if you have any).
It would be helpful if you can post a photo of the blue screen.
