Hi,

My computer was just working fine and suddenly it frozed. So i forced it to restart. But when the computer was booting up, it frozed on the unlocking screen of windows. So i decided to reinstall windows 10. So i went to the bios to reinstall windows with a ISO file of windows 10 on a usb. But it didnt work. I was getting different blue screens really shortly or black screens with nothing on it. So i decided to make a new bootable USB stick with windows 10 (iso file). I also updated my bios. So i tried again. I went to the bios to reinstall windows 10 again. But i was still having different blue screens, bluescreens with no text and black screens. I ran out of ideas and dont how to fix it.

My specs are:
I5 6600k
Asus Z170 Pro Gaming
DDR4 16GB Ram
MSI GTX 970

Kind Regards

Vincent

Unless they changed the UEFI, you can't boot from USB. That explains all the bsod, you still using the hdd.

I have an Asus Z97 Pro, it doesn't boot from USB by default but you can change settings. I assume it should work for the Z170

in the boot menu under advanced settings change the usb mode to full initialization then save and restart. this will enable all usb devices and it will boot from the usb automatically.

See if that helps.

Other alternative is make a dvd and boot from it instead, if you have a optical drive.

Do you want to lose everything or try to fix it?

Since your last two tries didn't work, if you can get into the installer, try a few things before killing windows.
ON the second screen after the language, select Repair this pc, not INSTALL
Select troubleshoot
Select Advanced
Select start up repair - it will ask for password and then see if it can fix anything. then turn pc off.

If that doesn't work, follow same menu system to advanced and try System restore - try to roll back a few days

If that doesn't work, reboot and follow same course except after Troubleshoot, select reset this pc - choose keep all your files and it will save your library contents, and then reinstall Win 10

The USB mode was already on full initalization. 🙁

I cant get in the installer because i already reset my SSD with windows 10 on it. I reset the ssd with secure erase in the bios.

Do you have a dvd drive? Make a Win 10 DVD instead and change boot order to boot from it instead, it makes no sense to be getting a blue screen if you are running off the installer, not the boot drive.

You have to do a fresh install now since you cleared the ssd.

I almost didn't get an optical drive in my current build, glad I did now if only as insurance.

Have you tried another USB stick? That or borrow an optical drive from someone. As you only have two ways to get Win 10 back on SSD.

Might be worth while picking up a cheap external dvd rw drive and stash it away for the times you need one.

I have to assume that Asus reduce the usability of USB as part of the secure boot programming. Can't be very secure if you can boot off USB, now can it.

I made a second bootable USB Stick, but i still had the same errors. I dont think that the usb's are the problem because the usb's worked fine on my other pc. The errors were IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION.

not being there, I don't know.

Possible causes[edit]
Normal causes for MCE errors include overheating and/or incorrect hardware installation. Specific manually-induced causes include:
overclocking (which normally increases heat-output)
poorly-fitted heatsink/computer fans (the same problem can happen with excessive dust in the CPU fan)
an overloaded internal or external power-supply (fixable by upgrading)

Computer software can also cause MCE errors (normally by corrupting data which programs read or write). For example, software performing read or write operations from or to non-existent memory regions can lead to confusion for the processor and/or the system bus.[citation needed] Accessing memory marked off-limits by UEFI may cause MCE errors.[3]

Its a new pc, one of the causes is PSU, another is fans not on right and the last is overclocking. That and it doesn't let you install win 10 were why i suggested you go get help.

I'm having the same issue. Blue screen when I boot the windows installer from a USB stick, so I can not do anything with my brand new build.

Any solutions to this problem?

Did you make own post? If so, can you share link and I see what is going on?
