I have a Blue snowball microphone, in which i purchased at Christmas 2014, but not through blue but ebay instead. I received my the microphone and i was very happy with it. The levels were correct and the 3 switches on the back worked perfectly. In the recording tab it was be named 'Blue Snowball'.

However recently, the microphone is coming up as USB advanced audio device. This is the problem. The levels of the microphone are now all over the place. Before when I had it on the 2'nd setting in which it's only meant to pick up my voice and hardly any background sound it can now pick up someone tapping on a table or shutting a door from across the room. Bare in mind it couldn't pick up my keyboard before but now it can pick up anything.

When looking in device manager before the problem my mic would be in called 'Blue Snowball' but now it is called ' USB Advanced Audio Device'. Now the Blue Snowball is meant to be a plug n' play microphone with no drivers. So i Can't just download a driver for it and use it that way.

These are things i have tried;

Uninstalled/update the 'Usb Advanced audio' driver

Uninstalled my sound card ect

A different usb cable

A different Usb port.

And i have tried it on a different pc and the same thing happened.

If you can help please reply to this, thanks.

Sorry Im not a computer expert how do I check if it has, or if i have installed one?

http://www.bluemic.com/snowball/#/support/

There seems to be some kind of update for certain models on that page. Scroll down to hardware setup. It is called the "High gain" version. Either you have that and it messed it up or you don't and it may fix it.

Also have you used any of the recommended software?

I just tried installing that but this comes up and I have done everything it said to do http://gyazo.com/b257537a5fadfc33a1de977803418d96

I haven't know i have the software that I use for YouTube videos, but it was all working fine before the problem.

The same thing happened, It might be because it doesn't see it as a blue snowball because it installs as Usb advanced audio device ( the main problem)

I got this mic during a trip, and I have exactly the same problem here. In the first week of use, the Microphone was properly recognized as Blue Snowball.

Now it's being recognized as "USB Advanced Audio Device, cardioid mode seems to be gone and audio quality is utter sh** now, to say the least. I've tried to reach Blue via support form, but they didn't replied me yet.

I'm so pissed.. I can't believe I've dumped an old Samson Go Mic for this piece of crap.
