Hey!
I recently bought a Blue Snowball iCE microphone. I'm a rather soft spoken person and my intention was to use it mainly for skype and other voice communications, so I basically just wanted a mic that I could set up fairly simply and that could hear me easily. Unfortunatly, that's not really what I got. The sound is alright when I listen to myself through headphones, but when I try it on Skype it's ridiculously low. I feel like I can barely hear myself even when I try to speak up.
I've made sure that I don't have any other mics plugged in and that the Snowball is set as standard. I've raised the volume level to 100 (both in the mic settings and on skype), I've deactivated anything that lets any program change the volume setting, I've tried changing the standard format (I have no idea what this actually does, but it went between 8000 Hz and 48000 Hz)and I've tried plugging it into different USB ports (both directly into my computer and through an USB-hub.) Makes no difference what so ever. I have the mic about 30-40 cm from my face and I can't really move it closer. It sounds good when my lips are prcatically on the mic though, but that can't be how it's intended to be used?
Does anyone have any ideas about what could be wrong or if it's just supposed to be this way? I know that there's software you can use to edit audio, but I doubt any of that could be used in direct voice communication.
Thanks,
